Who else did we hear from in October 2019? Member Pam Roberts spoke to us about the progress of her organization, Together We Grow Gardens, She advocated for our funds to go towards grow lights and heating pads for class rooms to support the "Power of Plants" program. Primarily in Newark City Schools, they educate kids about different foods and taking care of their food source. Additionally they have an increased sudden need for money to purchase gravel, etc. as they install a new high tunnel and need to control for drainage. We also heard about the Freedom Schools from Renee Mortimer. Part of the Children's Defense Fund's programing, this supports children academically with summer reading "schools". Licking County hosts several opportunities for students in rural areas to receive these academic supports.
We encourage 100+ members to support any or all of the wonderful charities introduced in our meetings! Click on the links to find out more about the presented organizations and how you can become involved.
